Developed from a 19th century Persian velvet panel woven in Kashan - one of the historic centres of luxury velvet production - the design features an elegant teardrop motif in rich raspberry red and antique gold. A decorative geometric border running along one side of the roll creates a refined panelled effect, encouraging flexible architectural applications. Particularly effective when used to frame a portion of a wall - forming an exaggerated upholstered “backrest” behind a bed, bench or sofa - the design lends depth and softness to a space. The colour palette, proportions and subtle irregularities of the original handwoven textile have been carefully preserved, retaining the character and richness of the historic fabric.
