In Flight Wallpaper
Developed from a 1904 Japanese woodblock print depicting a diagonal sweep of stylised butterflies in flight. Rooted in the principles of traditional Japanese printmaking, the composition balances rhythm, spacing and direction with a strikingly modern sensibility. Despite its age, the design feels distinctly contemporary - the simplified forms, graphic geometry and considered colour palette bridging historic craft with modern decorative language. Set against a soft cream ground, the butterflies drift across the surface in a loose, ascending formation, creating a sense of lightness and spontaneous movement. The palette combines deep black with terracotta red, muted lavender, soft blue and touches of ochre, forming a subtle visual trail that guides the eye across the wall.
